What Happened to Genie+?
Genie+ has been renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass. The system itself works similarly to the old Genie+, but Disney has shifted toward advance booking rather than day-of purchases only.
What Are the Lightning Lane Options?
Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you reserve return times at most popular attractions throughout the day. Lightning Lane Single Pass covers a small number of the highest-demand attractions not included in Multi Pass, purchased and used individually. Lightning Lane Premier Pass is a top-tier option allowing one-time access to each attraction at a park without booking in advance.
When Can You Book?
Guests staying at eligible Disney resort hotels can typically book Lightning Lane reservations further in advance of their trip than off-property guests, giving on-property stays a genuine advantage for popular attractions.
Is It Worth Buying?
On busier days, Lightning Lane can save several hours of cumulative standby wait time, making it a genuinely worthwhile purchase for many visitors — though pricing varies by date and park, so it’s worth checking current costs when booking.
